Hard to believe we’re already wrapping up March and almost a quarter of the way through 2025! 🤯 Time needs to slow down—especially since my wife has a long list of spring projects waiting for us. Let’s just hope we get to enjoy some nice weather before the summer heat kicks in!

🏀 Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters are back, and if you’ve never seen them live, you’re seriously missing out. These guys pull off insane basketball tricks, crazy half-court shots, and nonstop hilarious antics. It’s basketball, but way more entertaining.

🩰 Swan Lake – Performed by the State Ballet of Ukraine

Alright dads, if your kid is into ballet, princesses, or just anything magical, Swan Lake is a must. You don’t have to be a ballet expert to appreciate the insane talent of these dancers, and trust me, watching your little one get completely mesmerized by the performance makes it all worth it. Plus, major dad points if you take her out for ice cream after.

Wichita Biomedical Campus: The Future of Healthcare is Rising Downtown!

Have you seen what's happening downtown? The Wichita Biomedical Campus is coming together fast, and it's looking awesome. This isn't just another building; it's set to be a major hub for health sciences right in the heart of the city.

What's the Scoop?

• Massive Space: We're talking about a sprawling 471,000-square-foot facility. That's a lot of room dedicated to advancing health education and research.

• Big Investment: The project has a hefty price tag of around $300 million, showing just how significant this development is for our community.

• Prime Location: Situated at the corner of Broadway and William, it's right in the middle of downtown, making it super accessible.

Who's Teaming Up?

This is a collaborative effort between Wichita State University (WSU), WSU Tech, and the University of Kansas (KU). They're pooling resources to create a space that will house:

• WSU’s College of Health Professions programs

• WSU Tech’s healthcare programs

• KU’s School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy campuses

Construction Progress

The build is moving along smoothly. They've poured ramps connecting the two levels of the first floor, giving us a sneak peek at the interior layout. A third storm shelter has been constructed, and steel columns are now reaching up to the third floor. The focus for the next few months will be on installing more steel, which will really start to show the building's final shape.

When Can We Check It Out?

They're aiming to wrap up Phase 1 by the end of 2026, with the first classes kicking off in the new building by spring 2027. So, in just a couple of years, this place will be buzzing with students and faculty.

Why It Matters

This campus is set to be a game-changer for Wichita. It's not just about education; it's about creating a healthcare corridor that brings together services, research, and technology. Plus, it's expected to house around 3,000 students and 200 faculty and staff, injecting new energy into the downtown area.

So, next time you're downtown, take a peek at the construction site. My college days may be behind me, but it’s still exciting to see our city evolving with such impactful projects!
